What Is A Blueberry?

A blueberry is a well rounded fruit
It ripens when most needed
It takes hold in rough terrain
Where things are rocky
A blueberry is most nourishing
It is small yet multiplies its presence
To sweeten life unsacharinely
It is ever ripening with new possibilities
It thrives in glens, hollows, and solitudes
Yet is never isolated
A blueberries potential is inexhaustible and generous beyond measure
It allows itself to be squeezed
To be devoured and flavor all other things and people
A blueberry answers mans deepest needs
Collects and distributes dew with each morning
A blueberry retains its unique wild flavor
In season and out.
My Blueberry is everything blueberries
Were meant to be and to give
And she's all mine and then more
A Beachcomber Blueberry blend is an intoxicant

-William Malewitz, The Beachcomber

Liturgy

A stiff cowled Cardinal,
Cape red against the snow,
Its namesake emulates,
Aloof like, eyes aglow.

A Jay bird, miter blue,
Heads turn when he comes,
His crosier swinging true.
He scatters round the crumbs.

A Tufted Titmouse shy,
Like poverty portrayed.
A Nuthatch, white-breast, odd,
Humility displayed.

A childlike Chickadee
As fidgety as church
While rigid downey birds
Like parents stiff they perch

A perky pine squirrels dance
His tail ajerk suggests
The Latin ending chants
An Ite Missa est.

Too much bread isn't needed so spread it around.

In-house and Outhouse

There the sonic piped powder room,
Aerosprayed and disinfected,
Comfort conscious, Esquire faces groom.
Telephoned and sheik injected.

Then the lonely wind swept outhouse,
Listing some and weather beaten.
Sound effects like Loons and Ruffed Grouse.
Thoughtful those who there are seaten.

Love isn't unnecessary

Snow Stories

I paged a book this morning,
Printed on fresh fallen snow.
Each step a new tale borning,
Big racked bucks and white tailed doe.

I trailed a fox a hunting,
Saw him dine on pheasant too.
A rabbit moonlight stunting.
Snow told where partridge flew.

The fingered feet of squirrel,
Raccoon slow to hibernate.
Each trail, each page uncurl,
Each sign, food, to meditate.

All hunters aren't hunting

Reflection

The lake stood silent morning still.
Each island watched its image preened its trees.
Each mountain drank in pride its fill,
As clouds probed depths that inhibition frees.

A man soul searched his image found.
Each motive weighted his purpose proved and prayed.
Reflection seek and deeply sound,
New mornings need beginnings unafraid.
